Quick summary about life:
1. The leak is fixed!! My parents came up on Saturday afternoon and saved the day. When my dad went up into the ceiling and touched the pipe, it actually disintegrated into his hands! That's how moldy it was...yuck! The downside to this situation is that we galvanized pipe throughout the house, which in my father's expert opinion, is very unhealthy based on the erosion that can happen inside the pipe. I guess that's what you get for buying a house built in the 1940's.
2. I GOT A RAISE! This is the first time in my working career this has happened. I have worked hard and I truly believe I deserve it, but in times where people are losing jobs, its bittersweet.
3. Matt and I have actually made a list of projects we would like to do around the house in the coming year. We've decided to focus on giving the house a facelift, focusing on improving what we have structurally. The only other furniture we will buy is stuff for our bedroom. Matt wants to upgrade to a queen size bed and I would like some new dressers so we will have to compromise on this. I think I'm going to try to create a headboard myself to save us some money from fabric that I find. We are also going to repaint the entire inside of the house. We picked a blue gray called Buxton Blue, a historic color from Benjamin Moore, for our bedroom. We are still deciding on if we are going to change the colors in the hallway and living room, kitchen and dining room. My colors are inspired from a hydrangea wreath that our best friends, Kristin and Patrick, bought us for Christmas. But I have to say, it is still really difficult to pick the right color...you walk into Lowes or Home Depot and the shades are sometimes minimally different, it's hard to decide! All part of the learning process....
4. This past Friday, Matt and I met up with Tara and Justin for drinks in New Haven. It was so much fun!! Matt and I truly needed a day night out, which was don't do very often. I blame that mostly on myself because I'm the money conscious one.
5. We are hosting a party in March as an open house/birthday celebration so all of the above household mini projects, will need to be completed...thank god football season is over!
